MediStims new imaging product VeriQC is approved for sale in Japan

MediStim has received confirmation from its
distributor in Japan that its new product VeriQC is
approved for sale in the Japanese market. This means
that the Minestery of Health, Labor and Welfare
(MHLW), which is the health authority in Japan, has
approved the new product.

VeriQC is MediStims new generation of product for
quality assurance within vascular and cardiac
surgery. The system combines state of the art blood
flow measurement with new ultrasound based imaging
functionality. By visualizing it's easier to plan,
assure quality and perform the surgical procedure.
VeriQC is a new tool that can contribute with
increased precision and quality during surgery.
In addition to bypass surgery, VeriQC will be a
useful tool within other surgical procedures, like
for instance valve surgery, transplant surgery and
congenital cardiac diseases. MediStim is in position
to sell VeriQC in the European and Japanese market
now that CE approval and Japanese approval are in
place.

The new equipment more than doubles MediStims market
potential because of new areas of use, but also
because the value of the system increases essentially
compared to VeriQ without imaging functionality.
MediStim is seeking clearance from Food and Drug
Administration (FDA), which is the US health
authorities, for clearance of sale of VeriQC in the
US.

77 % of total sales to Asia were to Japan as of third
quarter 2009. Japan is a substantial market for
Medistim with about 400 hospitals performing on
average36000 cardiac procedures per year. MediStims
equipment is used in about 50 % of the procedures. It
is expected that a large portion of existing users
will purchase the new product VeriQC. MediStims
products are well accepted in the Japanese market and
the company is optimistic in regard to future sales
of VeriQC in Japan.
