Ocean Sun AS has been awarded four million NOK for its project titled "Floating Photovoltaics on Membranes: Development of new fixation design and new materials engineering." This award, is part of a joint call to foster cooperation between Norwegian and Brazilian companies, with the aim of promoting sustainable energy technologies. For Ocean Sun the project focuses on creating a new module fixation design for more benign waters and engineering of new materials. On the Brazilian side, our partners, Uapê Energias Solares and Viniartefatos Comércio, has received funding from FINEP to develop a 250 kWp Ocean Sun pilot project outside of Rio de Janeiro in 2025.
"This funding will enable us to push the boundaries of floating solar technology and allow us to build our first installation in South America, a strategically important market with our good partner Uapê." said Kristian Tørvold, CEO of Ocean Sun.
