We are pleased to announce that we are getting ready to start operation of our pilot plant for testing of new reactor design in Kristiansund. In addition, we continue to make progress with Skive process adjustments to enable full operation.
Mounting and commissioning of equipment at our Replast facilities in Kristiansund is progressing ahead of plan, and within end of Q1 2021 we expect to see the first results from this important pilot plant incorporating a new reactor design. In parallel, the Kristiansund plant is preparing for a future unique set-up with combined feedstock pretreatment, and chemical and mechanical recycling. The plant receives plastic that is normally incinerated or handled by landfills, with Quantafuel turning it into valuable resources.
We have previously reported operational challenges in Skive, but as reported before Christmas we have operated one of four production lines at close to full capacity for a shorter period. The main challenges lately have been to achieve stable operations over time. To handle these challenges, we are implementing certain changes to some equipment and operating procedures. These changes are well under way, and we expect to restart two lines soon. Our main objective for February is to run two lines in parallel over some time, to further optimize on operating parameters like temperature and pressure. As repeatedly stated before, it will still take months before we reach stable production on all four lines in Skive.
The next important milestone for Quantafuel is to reach an operating level that gives us comfort to make investment decisions (FID) together with existing and potential new partners. Our ambition is to reach that level as soon as possible so that we, in parallel with a gradual improvement in capacity and quality of production in Skive, can start planning of and construction at multiple sites across Europe and beyond.
Quantafuel is discussing the roll-out of large-scale capacity plants with both existing and potential new partners and will inform the market in due course.
