SCANA INDUSTRIER ASA - Scana Propulsion signs new contracts for propulsion systems to Offshore vessels
Scana Propulsion, a subsidiary of Scana Industrier ASA, has signed two contracts
for delivery of propulsion equipment to sophisticated offshore vessels. The
total value of the contracts are about 38 million NOK.
The contract with Flensburger Schiffbau GmbH in Germany is for delivery of
propulsion systems for two Well Intervention vessels for Siem Offshore, Norway.
The vessels are a SALT307 design and will be built by Flensburger Shipyard,
Germany. The propulsion system from Scana Propulsion is a diesel-electric system
consisting of two cp-propellers connected to two reduction gearboxes, and each
propeller is driven by two electric motors. The propulsion configuration is
tailor-made for the operational profile of the vessels, and is designed to give
optimum fuel efficiency. The equipment will be delivered to Flensburger
Schiffbau in Q2 and Q3 of 2015. The vessels are chartered by Helix Energy
Solutions for services for Petrobras in Brasil. The contract includes an option
for further two vessels.
Scana Propulsion has also signed a contract with Rolls Royce Marine for delivery
of reduction gearboxes of twin-in single-out type for the Multipurpose
Installation vessel, Island Victory, for Island Offshore. The vessel is of Rolls
Royce design and will be built at Vard Brevik. With a bollard pull in excess of
400 tonnes, the Island Victory will perform heavy anchor handling duties, in
addition to deep water subsea installation work. The equipment will be delivered
from Scana Propulsion in Q2 2015.
-We are proud to be selected by demanding ship owners like Siem Offshore and
Island Offshore", says Hallvard Pettersen, Managing Director of Scana Volda.
Scana Propulsion has by the latest contracts confirmed its position as a
supplier for the tailor-made and specialized configurations, for some of the
most advanced offshore vessels. Hallvard Pettersen is further looking forward to
cooperate with Flensburger Schiffbau, Rolls Royce and Vard Brevik for the
successful delivery of the vessels to the owners.
