After a concluded interaction phase, Veidekke has signed a contract with Bærum
municipality to build a new building and rehabilitate the current buildings at
Bekkestua lower secondary school. This is a design and build construction
contract valued at NOK 182 million, excluding VAT.
The school is to be extended from five to ten parallel classes with room for 900
lower secondary school pupils. The existing buildings are to be upgraded and
their functions will be extended. The contract also comprises a new three-storey
school building that will accommodate classrooms and associated support
functions such as changing rooms, group rooms and common rooms. The new build
will be linked to the current school building by a connecting building with
bridges across two floors that will establish a spacious main entrance to the
school.
"We're looking forward to embarking upon another interesting school project for
Bærum municipality. Following a constructive and solution-oriented interaction
phase, we are now ready to start construction work and build an attractive and
modern school building to the delight of pupils, teachers and employees," says
Erik Økland, who is head of department for public building projects with
Veidekke Bygg Oslo.
Building is scheduled to start in June with completion in December 2021.
