secunet AG cooperates with T-Online
Major increase in orders already received in 2000
Essen, February 9, 2000 – The cooperative venture involving the secunet
Security Networks AG and T-Online includes the introduction of the first-ever
chip-card-supported virtual private network (VPN) security solution. The new
solution will have particular appeal to companies and organizations with a
large number of field service personnel, small branch offices, or “teleworkers”,
since it will provide them with secure, straightforward and inexpensive
communications by way of the Internet. The new security solution was developed
on the basis of global communications capabilities by secunet together with
T-Online, T-TeleSec and NCP engineering GmbH. Plans are being made for the
solution to be marketed by T-Online and all the firms involved.
Even by the end of January 2000, orders received by the secunet Security
Networks AG, Germany’s leading service provider for IT and telecommunications
security, were up by 60 percent on the corresponding period last year
(to DM 13 million). This is due in large measure to a major order received
from a government department with strict security requirements and the
launch of a Trust Center project with the Deutsche Post AG.
The Managing Board anticipates that the sales figures forecast for the
past fiscal year will be slightly exceeded. The audited financial
statements of the secunet AG will be officially published on March 15, 2000.
