[Essen, 10 May 2005] Today the Federal Office for Information Management and
Information Technology of the German Federal Armed Forces (Bundesamt für
Informationsmanagement und Informationstechnik der Bundeswehr, IT-AmtBw) based
in Koblenz has placed a major order regarding the delivery of software and
hardware components for the operation of the high-security architecture SINA
with secunet Security Networks AG (ISIN DE0007276503, WKN 727650). The order
is integral part of the development of a new command and control system of the
German armed forces. The size of the order amounts to approximately Euro 7
million. The delivery of the SINA components will take place over a period of
three years, starting in 2005.

About SINA
The solution line SINA is used by the German Federal Foreign Office for the
secure worldwide networking of all German embassies and is designed to be the
central security architecture of the information network of the German federal
administration (IVBV). SINA enables the highly-secure remote access to
corporate and administrative networks. The system does not only focus on the

The SINA platform is based on a specially minimised and analysed Linux
operating system extended by numerous security functions. Different versions

and thus enables the scalable performance adjustment
– SINA One-way Gateway (data diode)
– SINA ThinClient, a workstation secured by smartcard technology, facilitating
the thin-client/server processing via the SINA Box
– SINA Virtual Workstation which will enable the highly-secure remote access
within a conventional client/server architecture
– SINA Virtual Server
– SINA Management, the scalable tool for the security configuration and
management of all SINA components.
