Für den Inhalt der Mitteilung ist der Emittent verantwortlich. —————————————————————————— SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES setzt Wachstumstrend fort: Ende Juli 2000 bereits Umsatz und Gewinn des gesamten Jahres 1999 übertroffen Die SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES AG hat auch in dem ersten abgeschlossenen Monat des zweiten Halbjahres 2000 die erfolgreiche Geschäftsentwicklung des ersten Halbjahres fortsetzen können: Im Juli wurden Umsatzerlöse in Höhe von 56,6 Mio, DM und Auftragseingänge in Höhe von 58,6 Mio. DM verzeichnet und damit die Vergleichszahlen des Vorjahresmonat bei weitem übertroffen (Umsatz + 260 %, Auftragseingang + 86,6 %). Auch im Monat August lagen die Zahlen im Bereich CD/DVD deutlich über dem Vorjahreszeitraum. Insgesamt wurde bereits in den ersten sieben Monaten mit Umsatzerlösen von 366,1 Mio. DM mehr als der Gesamtumsatz des Jahres 1999 von 346,7 Mio. DM erwirtschaftet. Auch bei dem Ergebnis nach Steuern, das Ende Juli schon bei 50,3 Mio. DM lag, konnte das Gesamtergebnis des Vorjahres von 46,5 Mio. bereits übertroffen werden. Grund für diesen anhaltenden und im Vergleich zum Wettbewerb auffälligen Aufwärtstrend ist die konstante Auslastung durch das traditionelle CD-Geschäft. Hier treiben neue Anwendungen, wie z.B, die sog. CD-Card, das Geschäft an. Dazu kommt der Boom beim Absatz von DVD- Anlagen. Für das laufende Jahr erwartet SINGULUS bei den installierten DVD-Linien ein Wachstum von 26 auf über 100 Linien und etwa eine Vervierfachung ihrer Umsatzerlöse in diesem Bereich. Von Mitbewerbern publizierte Nachfrageschwächen bei den CD-R Linien können bei der SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES AG kaum zu Buche schlagen, weil dieser Bereich in den Planzahlen für 2000 nur einen unbedeutenden Umsatzanteil darstellt. Das im Frühjahr heraufgesetzte Umsatzziel für das laufende Geschäftsjahr lag bei 600 Mio. DM und wurde erst Ende Juli auf 660 Mio. DM erhöht. Das entspricht im Jahresvergleich einem Plus von 90 %, wobei aufgrund der Ausrichtung auf das innovative DVD- Geschäft von einer überproportionalen Ergebnissteigerung auszugehen ist. Mit der neuen Beschichtungsanlage MODULUS für wiederbeschreibbare CDs und DVD s werden bereits 2001 zusätzliche Umsätze in einem völlig neuen Marksegment generiert. Alle Prognosen gehen davon aus, dass die wiederbeschreibbare DVD mit ihrer besseren digitalen Qualität die Videokassette und damit auch den Videorecorder ablösen wird. ———————————————————————- SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES Continues Growth Trend: Revenues and Earnings at End of July 2000 Exceed Those for All of 1999 The first full month of the second half of 2000 showed a continuation of the successful business developments achieved by SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES AG in the first half of the year: revenues of 56.6 million DM and order intake totaling 58.6 million DM were recorded in July, far exceeding the corresponding figures for the same month of the prior year (revenues +260%, order intake +86.6%). The CD/DVD figures for August were also significantly higher than for the same period the year before. Revenues of 366.1 million DM for the first seven months of the year surpassed the 346.7 million DM in gross revenues earned in 1999. Even net earnings, which had reached 50.3 million DM by the end of July, are already in excess of the 46.5 million DM net income for the entire previous year. The reason for this sustained and noticeable upward trend compared to the competition, is the constant utilization of capacity by the traditional CD business. New applications such as the CD Card, drive this business. An additional factor is the boom in the sale of DVD lines, SINGULUS expects the installed base of DVD systems to grow from 26 to 100 lines this year and gross revenues for this product group to quadruple. The decline in demand for CD-R lines publicized by competitors has had a negligible impact on SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES AG accounts, as this group represents an insignificant share of revenues in the numbers projected for 2000. Projected revenues for the current fiscal year, raised to 600 million DM in the Spring, were just increased to 660 million DM at the end of July. This corresponds to a 90% gain by annual comparison, and it can be asserted that earnings will be disproportionately high as a result of our affiliation with the innovative DVD business. By the year 2001, the new MODULUS coating system for rewritable CDs and DVDs will generate additional revenues in an entirely new segment of the market. All prognoses indicate that the rewritable DVD with its superior digital quality, will replace the video cassette and the VCR.
