Für den Inhalt der Mitteilung ist allein der Emittent verantwortlich. —————————————————————————— AD-HOC-MITTEILUNG NACH §15 WPHG In 2001 wieder Großaufträge nach geringerem Auftragseingang Ende 2000 Die SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES AG, Kahl/Main, meldet für das 4. Quartal 2000 einen Auftragseingang von 75 Mio. DM (4/1999 = 180 Mio. DM), so daß sich für das Gesamtjahr 2000 ein kumulierter Auftragseingang von 648,8 Mio. DM ergibt (1999 = 669,7 Mio. DM). Der Auftragsbestand zum Jahresende 2000 betrug 300 Mio. DM (1999 = 395 Mio. DM). Grund für den verhalteneren Auftragseingang war das ruhigere Geschäft in Hong Kong und Taiwan, vor allen Dingen verursacht durch Überkapazitäten bei den CD-R-Herstellern. Das deutet darauf hin, daß sich die Marktentwicklung, die in der Vergangenheit allgemein von starkem und stetigem Wachstum geprägt war, langfristig eher zyklisch bewegen wird. Das Geschäft in den übrigen Ländern Asiens, in Europa und USA verläuft dagegen weiter normal. Die besondere Stärke des Unternehmens liegt in der führenden Marktposition bei Metallizern, CD- und insbesondere DVD-Anlagen, welche im vergangenen Jahr 2000 bereits einen Anteil von 34 % des Gesamtumsatzes von 730 Mio. DM erreicht haben. So unterstreicht ein weiterer Großauftrag über mehr als 25 Mio. DM für DVD-Linien, der noch in dieser Woche erteilt werden wird, erneut die führende Position in diesem Wachstums-Markt. Dieser neue Vertrag stellt zugleich den Verkauf der 200. DVD-Produktions-linie SPACELINE dar, welche damit weltweit die mit Abstand meistverkaufte DVD-Anlage ist. Die zur Zeit erteilten DVD-Aufträge betreffen nur Anlagen für DVD-Video. SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES erwartet jedoch im Laufe der nächsten Monate noch zusätzliche Wachstumsimpulse und Marktchancen durch die Produktion von DVD-ROM für Computerspiele wie z. B. für das XBOX-Projekt von MICROSOFT. Das neue Geschäftsjahr 2001 steht unter der besonderen Zielsetzung, den neu entwickelten Multilayer-Metallizer MODULUS für alle wiederbeschreibbaren Medien – und hier besonders für die technologisch anspruchsvollsten DVD-RW/RAM – erfolgreich in den Markt einzuführen. Nachdem die erste MODULUS-Anlage Ende Dezember 2000 bei einem Kunden in Taiwan erfolgreich installiert und übergeben wurde, wird SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES für dieses Produktsegment im Laufe dieses Sommers zusätzlich eine komplette Produktionslinie unter dem Namen SUNLINE vorstellen. Zugleich sieht die Geschäftsstrategie vor, den Kunden nicht nur Hardware, sondern auch umfangreiches Prozeß-Know How und somit schlüsselfertige Gesamt-Produktionsanlagen liefern zu können. Dazu bietet der mit PIONEER geschlossene Technologie-Kooperationsvertrag beste Voraussetzungen. Die Gesamt-Branche der Hersteller für Optical Disc-Replikationsanlagen befindet sich offensichtlich z. Zt. in einer Phase der Konsolidierung, nachdem erste Wettbewerber in den jüngsten Wochen ihre Geschäftstätigkeit bereits eingestellt haben und vermutlich noch weitere folgen werden. Erfahrungs-gemäß gewinnen jedoch Firmen, die in ihrem Gesamt-Produktportfolio besondere Stärken bei Innovation sowie Technologie aufweisen und dadurch führende Marktpositionen erreicht haben, in diesen Zeiten zusätzliche Marktanteile und gehen gestärkt aus dem Prozess einer Bereinigung des Marktes hervor. Das Unternehmen sieht also insgesamt die Entwicklungen am Anfang des ersten Quartals 2001 als positiv an und wird zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt Planzahlen für das Jahr 2001 nennen. Sicher ist jedoch, daß SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES wie im Jahr 2000, so auch in diesem Jahr zu den ertragsstärksten Firmen im Nemax 50 des Neuen Marktes gehören wird. AD-HOC-INFORMATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH §15 WPHG Large Orders again in 2001 after a Decline in Incoming Orders at the End of the Year 2000 SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES AG, Kahl/Main, announces for the 4th quarter of the year 2000 new orders amounting to 75 million DM (4/1999 = 180 million DM). This means an accumulated order intake of 648.8 million DM for the entire year 2000 (1999 = 669.7 million DM). At the end of last year, the order backlog totalled 300 million DM (1999 = 395 million DM). Reason for the decline in incoming orders was a reduction in business from Hong Kong and Taiwan, primarily caused by overcapacity among manufacturers of CD-Rs. This indicates that the market trend, which has in the past been characterized by strong and constant growth, will in the long-term be more cyclical. Business in the rest of Asia, in Europe and in the USA, in contrast, continues to be normal. SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES’ particular strength lies in its leading market position in metallizers, CD- and more importantly DVD replication lines, which made up 34 % of the total turnover of 730 million DM in the year 2000. A further large order for DVD lines of more than 25 million DM, which will be placed this week, again underlines the company’s leading position in this growing market. The new contract simultaneously represents the sale of the 200th DVD replication line SPACELINE which is by far the best-selling DVD line worldwide. The current DVD orders are for DVD-Video lines only. In the course of the next few months, SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES expects an impetus for further growth and sales opportunities from the production of DVD-ROM for computer games, as for example the XBOX project from MICROSOFT. In the new fiscal year 2001 SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES will target for the successful market introduction of the newly developed MODULUS multilayer metallizer for all rewritable discs – especially for the technologically most demanding DVD+-RW/RAM. After the successful installation and acceptance of the first MODULUS in Taiwan at the end of December 2000, SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES is going to add an entire production line called SUNLINE to this product segment this summer. Furthermore, it is part of the company’s business strategy to supply the customers not only with hardware, but also with extensive process know-how and thus with turnkey replication systems. The cooperation agreement entered with PIONEER offers the best prerconditions for this strategy. At present, the entire community of suppliers for optical disc replication equipment is undergoing a consolidation phase. Some competitors have recently discontinued their business activities – some others are presumed to follow. Experience in the past has shown that companies which have reached leading market positions by a product range based on innovation and technological know-how will gain additional market share and will be strengthened by a consolidation of the market. SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES’ overall expectations are optimistic considering the development at the beginning of the first quarter of 2001. Its budgetary goals for 2001 are going to be published at a later date.
