SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES announce annual closing 2001: 225,5 million EURO revenue
and 27,9 million EURO net income after tax
SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES 51.5 million Euro order intake in the 4th Quarter of 2001
surpassed not only the preceding Q3/2001 (47.3 million Euro) but the 4th quarter
of 2000 (38.4 million Euro) as well. Total revenues in Q4/2001 of 49.7 million
Euro fell far short of the fourth quarter in 2000 (105.1 million Euro). With
regard to the fiscal year as a whole, SINGULUS was unable to repeat the turnover
generated in the exceptional year 2000, achieving total revenues for the year
in report of 225.5 million Euro (2000: 375.7 million Euro). Gross margin totaled
34.8% (2000: 37.7%) and the net income 27.9 million Euro. Revenues measured by
machine category are as follows for fiscal 2001: CD: 85.2 million Euro (2000:
178.2 million Euro), DVD: 84.1 million (2000: 129.3 million Euro), CD-R: 21.4
million Euro (2000: 36.7 million Euro), metallizers: 5.9 million Euro (2000: 9.0
million Euro) and service: 22.6 million Euro (2000: 22.5 million Euro).EMOULD
GmbH was included in the corporations sales for the first time recording
consolidated revenues of 6.3 million Euro. Based on product mix and sales
distribution by individual machine type it becomes apparent that the share of
the once core CD machine business declined from 47.4% in 2000 to 37.8% in 2001.
Conversely, the revenue share for DVD machines rose from 33% in 2000 to 37.3% in
2001.
The order intake of 51.5 million Euro exceeded both the preceding quarter (47.3
million Euro) and the 4th quarter in 2000 (38.3 million Euro). The overall
composition of bookings confirms the steady trend observed toward DVD machines.
SINGULUS began the new fiscal year with an order backlog of 55.7 million Euro
(158.1 Euro as of 12/31/2000). A residual order for DVD lines with an
indefinitely deferred delivery is no longer included in these figures.
With the acquisition of EMOULD GmbH in Wurselen on 10/1/01 and OMP Best, NL, on
1/1/02 SINGULUS substantially reinforced its position in the market as a leading
global supplier for optical discs. Overall we are optimistic that we will
continue expanding our current market position over the year 2002.
