SINGULUS and STANGL Successful at Photovoltaics Exhibition in Valencia
•New coating machine for Si solar cells successfully presented to the
market
•STANGL receives € 4.5 million order for wet-chemical machines for Si solar
cells
•High level of interest for CIS/CIGS machines for thin-film solar
technology, new ILGAR process impresses market
Kahl am Main, September 09, 2008 - The SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES AG (SINGULUS)
and the STANGL Semiconductor Equipment AG (STANGL) report successful
participation at the 23rd Photovoltaics Fair in Valencia, Spain.
New Coating Machine for Si Solar Cells Successfully Presented to the Market
SINGULUS started the market launch of the new inline coating machine for Si
solar cells with the product name SINGULAR in Valencia. The new inline
coating equipment is designed for a capacity of more than 3,000 Si solar
cells/hour. The revolutionary machine concept was presented to all renowned
solar cells producers. The response and the number of projects discussed
suggest a quick market penetration.
With the new SINGULUR coating machine the production of anti-reflective
layers on solar wafers will be automated in the future.
Stefan A. Baustert, CEO of the SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES AG, comments: 'Our
concept offers numerous advantages compared with the machines available
today. The concept provides SINGULUS with a completely new work area in the
rapidly growing solar market. The Si solar technology will continue to
represent the majority of the entire solar market.'
STANGL receives order over € 4.5 million
STANGL received an order for SILEX equipment for the wet-chemical cleaning
of Si solar cells in Valencia. The machines will be supplied to a large
Asian solar cell producer. The agreement over additional projects is
expected shortly.
High level of interest for CIS / CIGS machines, new ILGAR process impresses
market
With its TENUIS coating machines STANGL has reached an internationally
leading position in the CIS / CIGS thin-film technology. The high demand
for CIS / CIGS lines from all over the world suggests dynamic project
activity and strong follow-up business after the exhibition.
STANGL and the Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie (HZB),
formerly the Hahn-Meitner-Institut, presented the new spray ion layer gas
reaction process (ILGAR) at the photovoltaics exhibition in Valencia,
Spain. The ILGAR process will be used for the application of indium sulfide
buffer layers, which are capable of replacing cadmium sulfide in thin-film
solar cells. The high level of interest during the fair shows that STANGL
has taken the right path for the most important future technology for the
production of CIS / CIGS thin-film solar cells.
Short profile STANGL/SINGULUS
SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES is the global market leader for optical disc
production lines for CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray Discs and the only provider to
offer the entire product range: mastering, molding and replication lines.
In addition to the further expansion of the core activities Optical Disc,
the diversification into the work area Solar is the most important
strategic goal.
STANGL and SINGULUS will systematically expand the Solar activities. As of
today, STANGL is one of the few providers of wet-chemical machines for both
the crystalline silicon solar technology as well as for the thin-film solar
technology. SINGULUS has been marketing its own solar coating machine,
which is based on the know-how gained in the core area of Optical Disc,
since September. In addition, STANGL’s experience and market knowledge will
be tapped. In March 2008, SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES teamed up with Q-Cells, the
global leader of solar cell production, for the development of this new
machine and won the company as a key customer.
Combined with STANGL’s machines, SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES will then be able to
offer the two important machine groups with wet-chemical and vacuum coating
processes for a production line for crystalline silicon solar cells. The
goal is to strengthen its global position for production equipment for
crystalline solar cells over the next few years.
