Supervisory Board approves amalgamation of HK in NA
Hamburg, 12 December 2003 – At its meeting on 11 December 2003 the Supervisory
Board of Norddeutsche Affinerie AG (NA) gave its approval to the amalgamation of
Hüttenwerke Kayser AG (HK) in NA. The amalgamation of HK in NA is planned
economically retroactive to 1 October 2003. HK’s Supervisory Board and its
Annual General Meeting have not yet given their consent but this is, however,
expected.
The aim of the amalgamation is to create the possibilities to integrate HK’s
business and production works even more strongly in the NA Group. The Group is
meeting the increased demands of international competition above all by
implementing cost cutting and performance enhancement programmes. In particular
the recycling business should be further strengthened. HK’s production site in
Lünen will play a central role in this. In addition to the structural benefits,
the amalgamation will enable the accumulated losses at HK to be optimally used.
