STADA: Sales and earnings records after the first nine months of 2002 Ad-hoc-announcement transmitted by DGAP. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– STADA Arzneimittel AG has again attained record levels for sales and earnings with its nine-month results for 2002. Consolidated sales in the first nine months of 2002 rose by a total of +15% to EUR 465.1 million. The high sales growth of +31% in the three core segments generics, brands and special pharmaceuticals, which reached a sales volume totaling EUR 412.5 million (89% of consolidated sales), made an essential contribution to this result. 16 percentage points of this growth of the core segments is organic. Individually, generics grew by +35%, brands by +19% and special pharmaceuticals by +20% in the first three quarters of 2002. As planned, sales in the non-core commercial business segment were down -44%, parallel to the restructuring of this segment which was successfully completed operationally on June 30. Earnings in the STADA Group are also climbing to new record levels. After nine months, all earnings figures (according to IAS since the beginning of the year) are clearly higher than in the corresponding period the year before, not only with respect to the retroactively adjusted IAS results but also the results published the year before according to the German Commercial Code (HGB). In the first nine months of 2002, STADA increased EBITDA to EUR 77.4 million (+35.8% according to IAS and +26.0% vs. HGB), earnings before taxes to EUR 48.0 million (+38.0% according to IAS and +15.1% vs. HGB) and net income to EUR 28.7 million (+96.0% according to IAS and +37.0% vs. HGB). Earnings per share increased after nine months to EUR 1.51 (+84.1% according to IAS and +33.0% vs. HGB/DVFA). It is thus anticipated that the forecasts for the current fiscal year, which were raised in June, are sure to be attained. They include sales growth of at least +25% in the core segments and definite double-digit growth in the Group as well as the record earnings before taxes of at least EUR 60 million targeted for 2002.
