SURTECO SE, leading manufacturer of surface materials based on plastics and
technical papers for the international construction and furnishing
industry, generated sales of EUR 341.1 million in the business year 2009
and was therefore 15 % below the volume for 2008. While foreign sales fell
by 18 %, a drop of 11 % was posted in the German market. The proportion of
foreign sales fell by two percentage points to 64 %.
The Strategic Business Unit Plastics closed the business year with sales of
EUR 210.0 million. This corresponds to a decline of 18 %. The paper segment
generated EUR 131.1 million (-12 %).
The SURTECO Group generated an operating result (EBITDA) of EUR 54.3
million (-4%) in 2009, whereby the EBITDA for the previous year was
impacted negatively by one-off restructuring expenses amounting to EUR 7.3
million.
The financial result advanced from EUR -21.3 million to EUR -16.9 million
essentially on the basis of a lower impairment requirement on the package
of shares in Pfleiderer AG, Neumarkt, held by SURTECO. As a result, the
pretax result (EBT) went up by 11 % to EUR 17.6 million.
The Board of Management and Supervisory Board will propose to the Annual
General Meeting of the shareholders of the company to be held in Munich on
24 June 2010 that a dividend of EUR 0.40 (2008: EUR 0.35) per share should
be paid out.
