——————————————————————————
Munich, 8 March – Süss MicroTec AG will probably not quite meet
the analysts’ result expectations for 1999. From the first
provisional results it looks as though the planned targets in
the fourth quarter were exceeded and so the accumulated losses
of the first three quarters were balanced out. Measures were
taken in expectation of strong market growth in order to manage
this further expansion. This resulted in 1999 in clearly
increased personnel and business costs, and led to the fact
that the result for the full year only showed a slight
improvement in comparison with the previous year. Exact details
will be made available after the audit – completion is planned
for 12 April.
For the year 2000 it is to be expected that the measures that
have been introduced will pay off. The Board calculates,
therefore, not only that there will be a further increase in
turnover, but also that there will be a considerable increase
in the result Already in November and December 1999, and also
in January 2000, Süss has recorded an exceptionally high order-
intake. In February the order growth should have accelerated
yet again (exact numbers will be available in a few days).
