The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– 30% sales increase compared with previous year Earnings expected to be 10% above budget Munich, January 15, 2002 – According to the preliminary, unaudited figures SÜSS MicroTec AG has slightly exceeded its published sales target of EUR 210 million in the 2001 financial year. Compared to the previous year, the company from Garching (near Munich) thus achieved sales growth of approximately 30%. Net sales of around EUR 60 million were achieved in the fourth quarter 2001. Order entry in the fourth quarter 2001 was around EUR 30 million according to the preliminary figures, which represents a slight recovery compared with the order entry in the third quarter (EUR 28.7 million). Taking into consideration the economic environment, the Management Board of SÜSS MicroTec views this as a stabilisation of the order situation. The earnings (earnings after taxes) expected by the Management Board for 2001 overall is 10% above the original forecast EUR 16 million. This is particularly due to the positive development of the margin and the dollar, being stable in 2001 in relation to the euro. The final and audited figures for 2001 will be published by SÜSS MicroTec on March 22, 2002, prior to commencement of trading.
