. Seasonally typical low sales of about EUR 28 million
. Incoming orders remain low at about EUR 23 million, as expected
. Management Board expects upward trend for second quarter due to positive
demand situation
München, April 18, 2002. SÜSS MicroTec AG, one of the leading producers of
processing and testing devices for microelectronics worldwide, confirms the weak
period already predicted by management with provisional figures for the first
quarter of 2002. The first quarter development is seasonally not unusual for the
semiconductor industry, but is also influenced by the weak economy in this
sector.
In the first quarter of 2002, net sales were around EUR 28 million, compared to
EUR 52 million in last year’s first quarter (minus 45%). Order entry in the
first quarter of approx. EUR 23 million were around 57% lower than the previous
year’s first quarter (EUR 56 million).
Due to the increased demand from customers, the company however expects a clear
upward trend in order entry as well as in sales during the second quarter
already.
