SUSS MicroTec, a leading supplier of production and process technology for the semiconductor industry, largely confirms with its provisional figures for the second quarter 2002 the restrained sales development in 2002 as anticipated and already announced. In the second quarter 2002, order entry was at around EUR 29 million, compared to EUR 40,9 million in the last year s second quarter, a decline of 30%. Yet compared to the first quarter 2002 (EUR 23,8 million) SUSS MicroTec increased its order entry by about 20%. Preliminary net sales in the second quarter of approx. EUR 27 million were about 46% lower than the previous year s second quarter (EUR 50,3 million) and slightly below the first quarter 2002 (EUR 28,9 million). Due to the seasonal weakness in the first months of the year and the continuing adverse development of the semiconductor industry the first half year 2002 showed the expected slow development. A slight recovery in the market is indicated in an increase in order entry at the end of second quarter. With further increase in order entry, the Board continues to expect the major sales and earnings contribution for the whole year to be achieved in the second half of 2002, especially in the fourth quarter 2002.
