DataDesign AG, approved the strategy for the current business year at the
advisory board meeting on 19 February 2001. Roy von der Locht, chairman of
DataDesign AG, intends to steer the leading technology company for secure
infrastructures on the Internet towards consistent profits: The aim over the
past year was to markedly increase turnover. In the current business year the
focal point will clearly be on making profit. The background for this clear
focus are the business results from last year. Although turnover rose by a clear
amount of 111 percent to around 25 million DM, the results of normal business
activity fell behind expectations at minus 8 million DM. This finally led to
overall results of minus 5.2 million DM after tax.
The board dispensed with concluding the turnover due to cash-flow uncertainties
with foreign clients as their payment appeared to be doubtful. The entire board
now prescribed a program of optimisation for the entire company: With the
background of the primary aim for 2001 of making a profit over the year, all
departments of the company will be checked for profitability. The optimisation
phase will in its essentiality be completed by the end of Quarter 1 and will
involve a streamlining of the company. This will enable the company to save a
total of around 5.3 million DM in 2001. One further decision to be made within
the optimisation program will be the closing of branches, this will affect among
other the Stuttgart branch, as a number of projects managed from there have
already been completed. The branches in Copenhagen and Singapore are to be
closed. Over the past year international sales partners were trained in
DataDesign products and fitted out for presales, sales and support. The
electronic age renders long-term local presence superfluous. By consciously
dispensing with turnover with small margins the board expects a turnover of
around 26 million DM for the current business year and a profit of 1 million DM.
