The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– BASF Aktiengesellschaft: BASF continues share buyback program Company increases repurchase of shares from EUR500 million to EUR1 billion The Board of Executive Directors of BASF Aktiengesellschaft has decided to increase its share buyback program. In total BASF plans to repurchase shares for an additional EUR500 million. The repurchasing of the additional shares can begin immediately. During 2004, the company has already used EUR500 million to buy back a total of 11.64 million shares at an average price of EUR42.92. This corresponds to 2.09 percent of the company’s share capital. The aim of buying back shares is to reduce the equity ratio thus lowering the cost of capital and to increase earnings per share. BASF is the world’s leading chemical company.
