BASF Aktiengesellschaft: BASF continues share buyback program
Company increases repurchase of shares from EUR500 million to EUR1 billion
The Board of Executive Directors of BASF Aktiengesellschaft has decided to
increase its share buyback program. In total BASF plans to repurchase shares
for an additional EUR500 million. The repurchasing of the additional shares
can begin immediately.
During 2004, the company has already used EUR500 million to buy back a total
of 11.64 million shares at an average price of EUR42.92. This corresponds to
2.09 percent of the company’s share capital.
The aim of buying back shares is to reduce the equity ratio thus lowering the
cost of capital and to increase earnings per share.
