The first quarter of 2001 was a successful period for United Internet. Consolidated sales grew by 30 percent to EUR 60.9 million. The company’s key earnings figures also developed positively: EBITDA rose to EUR 2.5 million (previous year: EUR -1.1 million) and pre-tax earnings (EBT) improved to EUR -7.4 million (previous year: EUR -10.1 million). EUR 52.4 million (86 %) of total consolidated sales was generated by subsidiaries which disclosed positive EBT figures in the first quarter of 2001. Goodwill amortization of majority shareholdings within the Group amounted to EUR 3.2 million. Depreciation of intangible and tangible fixed assets totalled EUR 4.3 million for the Group as a whole. The losses of companies consolidated at- equity amounted to EUR 2.1 million. On the basis of these results, the company posted DVFA-based earnings per share of EUR -0.13 (previous year: EUR -0.18), after elimination of goodwill amortization amounting to EUR -0.06 (previous year: EUR -0.11). As of March 31, 2001 the Group’s cash flow from operations totalled EUR 1.2 million (previous year: EUR 0.8 million).
