United Internet acquires 80 percent stake in InterNetX
Outsourcing segment strengthened
Montabaur, December 23, 2004. In an agreement signed yesterday, United
Internet AG has acquired a stake in InterNetX GmbH, Regensburg. In a joint
resolution with the existing shareholders, the company has also decided to
raise the capital of InterNetX. On completion of the transaction, United
Internet will own 80 % of all shares in InterNetX.
In future, all reselling activities of United Internet will be conducted
through InterNetX. To this end, InterNetX will take over Schlund Technologies
GmbH and the reselling activities of United Internet AG previously operated by
Schlund Technologies. Total sales revenues of 8 million euros are expected
for fiscal year 2005. Both parties have agreed to maintain silence regarding
the purchase price.
InterNetX provides ISPs, telcos and Internet agencies with domains, shared and
dedicated hosting products, security solutions and network connections. With
over 700,000 registered domains and more than 500 hosted servers, this
profitable company is one of Germany’s leading providers of white-label
products.
“Our investment in InterNetX represents a long-term strengthening of our
outsourcing business. In the white-label sector InterNetX stands for cutting-
edge technology with top-rate features offering excellent value for money,”
says Ralph Dommermuth, CEO of United Internet AG. “Schlund Technologies as a
pure domain provider and InterNetX as a one-stop provider of hosting products
make an ideal team. By merging the two companies we have created a reseller
network with over 10,000 partners who can offer a wide range of innovative
hosting products. This puts us into a leading position on the German reselling
market.”
“With the participation of United Internet we’ve gained a strong partner for
the company’s future growth. It will enable us to benefit from the market
know-how and international contacts of the United Internet Group and launch
our expansion into the European market,” says Thomas Mörz, CEO of InterNetX
GmbH.
With over 3.3 million customer contracts, United Internet AG is one of
Europe’s leading Internet Service Providers (ISP). In its “Product” segment,
the Group’s value-added internet services and fast internet connections are
directed at private users, small/home offices (SoHos) and small to mid-size
enterprises (SMEs). These groups are served by the brands GMX, 1&1 and
Schlund+Partner. In addition to its “Product” business, the Group is also
engaged in “Outsourcing” (via the brands Schlund Technologies and twenty4help)
as well as “Online Marketing” (via the brands AdLINK, Sedo and affilinet).
