United Internet tops 5 million mark in customer contracts
1.75 million DSL customers expected by year-end
Montabaur, December 16, 2005. Following the integration of WEB.DE’s portal
business and due to dynamic growth in its year-end business, United Internet
AG signed its 5-millionth customer contract yesterday. Originally planned for
2008, the company has thus reached this particular target as early as 2005.
As of December 15, 2005 the number of customer contracts in the United
Internet Group passed the 5 million mark. With regard to product lines, the
figure can be divided into 0.99 million contracts in the field of Information
Management (including 0.53 million WEB.DE club customers), 2.08 million in
Webhosting and 1.94 million in the Access segment – including 1.72 million DSL
contracts.
“With expected growth of 1.55 million customers this year, 2005 will be the
company’s best ever fiscal year,” says Ralph Dommermuth, CEO of United
Internet AG.
“Our most important growth drivers are the ongoing high demand for broadband
connections and the successful international expansion of our webhosting
business,” continues Dommermuth. United Internet expects to reach 1.75 million
DSL contracts (prior year: 1.05 million) and 0.60 million foreign hosting
contracts (prior year: 0.37 million) by year-end 2005.
With over 5 million customer contracts, United Internet AG is one of the
leading Internet Service Providers (ISP). In its “Product” segment, the
Group’s value-added internet services and fast internet connections are
directed at private users, small/home offices (SoHos) and small to mid-size
enterprises (SMEs). These groups are served by the brands GMX, WEB.DE, 1&1 and
Schlund+Partner. In addition to its “Product” business, the Group is also
engaged in “Outsourcing” (via the brands InterNetX and twenty4help) as well as
“Online Marketing” (via the brands AdLINK, Sedo and affilinet).
