United Internet AG: United Internet closes fiscal year 2005 with record figures for sales, earnings and customer contracts

The Management Board of United Internet today announced the preliminary, unaudited results according to IFRS for the fiscal year 2005. The preliminary figures show record levels of sales, earnings and customer growth. According to the preliminary results, consolidated sales of United Internet AG grew by 57 percent to EUR 801.3 million in fiscal 2005 (prior year: EUR 509.7 million). Preliminary earnings before taxes (EBT) grew by 43 percent from EUR 70.4 million (comparative figure for 2004) to EUR 100.8 million. The Management Board will propose to the Supervisory Board a dividend payment of EUR 25 cents per no-par value share from the balance sheet profit 2005 (prior year: EUR 20 cents). The joint proposal of the Management Board and Supervisory Board will be voted on at the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting in June 2006. The number of fee-based customer contracts as of December 31, 2005 grew to 5.08 million (prior year: 3.5 million). Divided according to product lines, this total comprises 0.99 million customer contracts in the field of Information Management (prior year: 0.38 million – without WEB.DE), 2.11 million (of which 0.6 million outside Germany) Webhosting contracts (prior year: 1.80 million – of which 0.37 million outside Germany) and 1.98 million Access contracts (prior year: 1.34 million) – of which 1.76 million DSL customers (prior year: 1.05 million). The number of DSL telephony minutes grew by year-end to over 300 million per month (prior year: 25 million minutes). The final audited figures for fiscal 2005 will be presented during the annual report press conference on March 24, 2006 in Frankfurt.
