United Internet AG today welcomed its 2-millionth DSL customer. The event marks a further chapter in the success story of Germany’s no. 2 in the DSL market. United Internet offers broadband connections and DSL telephony via its brands GMX, 1&1 and Schlund + Partner. “For the year as a whole, we expect around 500,000 new DSL customers,” says Ralph Dommermuth, CEO of United Internet AG. “Our DSL customer figure will probably reach about 2.25 million by year-end. We intend to continue our strategy of profitable growth with high-value customer contracts and will further develop our DSL business in the second half of the year. It is particularly encouraging that more and more customers are choosing our fast, high-performance DSL connections with up to 16,000 kbit/s transmission capacity. Moreover, a growing number of customers are also using our DSL telephony products.” With over 5.3 million customer contracts, United Internet AG is one of Europe’s leading Internet Service Providers (ISP). In its “Product” segment, the Group’s value-added internet services and fast internet connections are directed at private users, small/home offices (SoHos) and small to mid-size enterprises (SMEs). These groups are served by the brands GMX, WEB.DE, 1&1 and Schlund + Partner.
