United Internet posts best result in company’s history
Montabaur, November 10, 2006. The Management Board and Supervisory Board of
United Internet AG today announced the Group’s consolidated results
according to IFRS for the first nine months of 2006. The figures represent
the best result in the company’s history.
Consolidated sales of United Internet AG were up some 68.2 % on the same
period last year to stand at EUR 914.0 million (prior year: EUR 543.3
million). Earnings also made very strong progress: earnings before
interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) grew by 113.8 %
from EUR 87.7 million (prior-year figure) to EUR 187.5 million. Earnings
before taxes (EBT) of the United Internet Group were raised by 100.7 % from
EUR 73.2 million (prior-year figure) to EUR 146.9 million. Depreciation of
tangible and intangible assets grew from EUR 16.2 million last year to EUR
40.3 million in the period under review. This figure includes around EUR
16.0 million for the amortization of identified and capitalized intangible
assets in connection with company acquisitions, resulting from the takeover
of WEB.DE’s portal business and CibleClick in late 2005 and the completed
acquisition of Fasthosts in May 2006. Cash flow from operating activities
rose to EUR 130.4 million (prior year: EUR 61.3 million). Earnings per
share (EPS) amounted to EUR 0.35 (prior-year figure adjusted for share
split: EUR 0.19).
The number of fee-based customer contracts rose to 6.13 million as of
September 30, 2006 (prior year: 4.21 million). Divided according to product
lines, the customer contract figures comprise 1.13 million contracts in the
field of Information Management (prior year: 0.44 million), 2.73 million
(of which 1.16 million outside Germany) in Webhosting (prior year: 2.01
million – of which 0.54 million outside Germany) and 2.27 million (prior
year: 1.76 million) in Access – of which 2.09 million DSL customers (prior
year: 1.53 million). Up to 540 million telephone minutes are completed per
month (prior year: 175 million). The number of DSL connection customers
also grew strongly to 1.59 million (prior year: 0.72 million).
