United Internet continues sponsoring of German America’s Cup campaign
- Another cornerstone in the young German America’s Cup history
Montabaur, 19th September 2007. The United Internet AG will continue its
sponsoring of the German Challenge in the 33. America’s Cup. After United
Internet officiated as the main sponsor in the 32. America’s Cup and Ralph
Dommermuth’s personal commitment which made an entry of a German team
possible for the first time in the 156 year old history of the America’s
Cup, United Internet, together with the Audi AG as another main sponsor as
well as Porsche Consulting as a technology partner, secures another
participation of the campaign in the 33. America’s Cup. 'I am proud to
announce that the United Internet AG with its core brands 1&1, GMX and
WEB.DE will support the second German campaign as well', says Ralph
Dommermuth.
The 32. America’s Cup has been a great success for the United Internet AG
in terms of media recognition. More than 7.5 Billion contacts were
generated with the first campaign. The engagement turned out to be very
profitable for the United Internet AG. 'We were not satisfied with the
sports results', Dommermuth explains. A continuation of the sponsorship in
the 33. America’s Cup therefore depended strongly on a new sportive
concept. Furthermore the venue and the role of the media played an
important role. 'I would like to highlight the sportive concept and thank
Michael Scheeren who in many one-on-one talks has not only developed but
also realised a stable concept in the past few weeks and months. With
Jochen Schümann and Karol Jablonski the Head of Syndicate managed to fix
two high-class celebrities for the sportive key positions in the team',
says Dommermuth.
The United Internet is convinced of the significantly rising media value of
a second campaign. Early drafts for extending media activity nationally and
internationally are on hand already. Together with the AUDI AG and Porsche
Consulting the second campaign is resting on many pillars. 'I would like to
express my gratitude to Rupert Stadler of the Audi AG, which has been
active in the sailing business for many years and is perfectly in line with
us as an innovative and growing company. I also want to thank Eberhard
Weiblen from Porsche Consulting, a well experienced and technology driven
consulting company. Together they will lead the German team to success in
the 33. America’s Cup', Ralph Dommermuth is sure.
With around 7 million customer contracts, United Internet AG is a leading
Internet Service Provider (ISP). In its 'Product' segment, the Group’s
value-added internet services and fast internet connections are directed at
private users, small/home offices (SoHos) and small to mid-size enterprises
(SMEs). These groups are served by the brands GMX, WEB.DE, 1&1, InterNetX
and Fasthosts. In addition to its 'Product' business, the Group is also
engaged in 'Online Marketing' (via the brands AdLINK Media, affilinet and
Sedo).
