Für den Inhalt der Mitteilung ist allein der Emittent verantwortlich. —————————————————————————— Sony DADC ordert bei Basler AG Sony DADC in Salzburg stattet ihre DVD-Produktionslinien mit Inspektionssystemen der Basler AG aus Ahrensburg, den 06.03.2000 – Inspektionssysteme der Basler AG haben zukünftig verstärkt die Digital Versatile Disks (DVDs) und CD-Rs der Sony DADC “im Blick”. DADC beauftragte die Basler AG erneut damit, Produktionslinien zur Herstellung dieser optischen Speichermedien mit Inspektionssystemen von Typ BASLER S3 auszustatten. Bei der Erweiterung der Kapazitäten, die die Sony- Tochter zum größten DVD-Hersteller Europas macht, setzt das Unternehmen in puncto Qualitätssicherung ausschließlich auf Inspektionssysteme aus Ahrensburg. Nicht nur DVD-Video und DVD ROM Discs, sondern auch die neuen PlayStation2 DVDs werden damit bei Sony DADC produziert. Der Auftrag beläuft sich auf mehrere Millionen DM. Bereits Anfang des Jahres orderte DADC bei Basler. Der Wachstumsimpuls, den der Vision Technology Spezialist aus dem Großauftrag erwartete, ließ nicht lange auf sich warten: Grund für diese Entscheidung waren die guten Resultate, die die BASLER S3 Scanner im Einsatz erzielten. “Das technologisch ausgereifte Konzept von Basler ermöglicht uns bei der Produktion von DVDs und CD-Rs ein effektives Yield-Management, das uns einen klaren Wettbewerbsvorteil verschafft”, erklärt Dieter Daum, Vorstandsvorsitzender der Sony DADC Austria AG. Dieser Vorteil hat besondere Bedeutung bei der DVD9 Produktion, auf die sich Sony DADC spezialisiert hat. Dr. Dietmar Ley, neuer Vorstandsvorsitzender der Basler AG, sieht Basler auf einem guten Weg: “Mit der Zusammenarbeit mit DADC bauen wir unsere führende Position auf dem Markt für DVD Inspektionssysteme weiter aus. Unsere Strategie, technologisch in diesem Bereich vorne zu sein, hat sich voll ausgezahlt.” Dabei steht die Entwicklung des Marktes für optische Datenträger vom Typ DVD erst am Anfang: Nach Schätzungen der Deutschen Bank ist im DVD-Markt über die nächsten drei Jahre mit einem durchschnittlichen Wachstum von jährlich 87% zu rechnen. Aufgrund der hohen Speicherkapazität von bis zu 17 Gigabyte spielen DVDs über kurz oder lang z.B. für die Film- und Entertainment-Industrie eine wichtige Rolle. Ganz im Trend der letzten Jahre plant das am Neuen Markt notierte Hightech-Unternehmen das Jahr 1999 mit substantiellen Umsatz- und Ergebniswachstum abzuschließen. Einzelheiten dazu wird das Unternehmen auf seiner Bilanzpressekonferenz am 15. März bekanntgeben. Sony DADC Places Order With Basler AG Sony DADC in Salzburg equipping its DVD production lines with inspection systems from Basler AG Ahrensburg, 06 March 2000 – Basler AG inspection systems will be “keeping an eye” on Sony DADC’s Digital Versatile Disks (DVDs) and CD-Rs. DADC again assigned Basler AG the task of equipping its production lines for the manufacture of these optical storage media with inspection systems of type BASLER S3. In expanding its capacity, making the Sony subsidiary the largest DVD manufacturer in Europe, the company is relying exclusively on inspection systems from Ahrensburg to take care of quality assurance. Not only DVD video and DVD-ROM disks, but even the new PlayStation2 DVDs will be produced using this system at Sony DADC. The order is valued at several million marks. DADC also placed an order from Basler earlier this year. The growth impulse that the vision technology specialist foresaw from this major order made itself felt rather quickly. The good results that the BASLER S3 Scanner attained in use was the reason for the decision. “The technologically advanced concept from Basler enabled an effective yield management in the production of DVDs and CD-Rs, giving us a clear competitive edge “, explains Dieter Daum, chief executive of Sony DADC Austria AG. This advantage is of particular importance in DVD9 production, a field Sony DADC is specialized in. Dr. Dietmar Ley, new chief executive of Basler AG, sees Basler on the right track saying, “With this further cooperation with DADC we’ll be keeping a lead position in the market for DVD inspection systems. Our strategy of being technologically out front in this field has paid off completely”. Still, the development of the market for DVD-type optical data media is only in its infancy. According to estimates by the Deutsche Bank, an average annual growth of 87% can be expected in the DVD market over the next three years. Thanks to the large storage capacity of up to 17 gigabytes, DVDs will, for example, sooner or later play an important role in the film and entertainment industry. Keeping in trend with recent years, the high-tech company listed on the Neuer Markt is projecting substantial sales and revenue growth for the closing year 1999. The corporation will be announcing details during its financial statement press conference on 15 March.
