United Labels AG / Quarter Results

- Year-on-year decline in quarterly revenue
- 49% increase in Q1 order intake

Münster, 7 May 2009 - United Labels AG (ISIN: DE 0005489561), a company
specialising in comicware sold under licence, generated consolidated
revenue of EUR 8.7 million in the first quarter of 2009 (prev. year: EUR
9.9 million). EBIT for the same period amounted to EUR -0.5 million (prev.
year: EUR 0.3 million). Order intake developed well, rising by 49% to EUR
11.3 million (prev. year: EUR 7.6 million).
The potential contraction of revenue had become apparent in the fourth
quarter of 2008. As a result of changed purchasing patterns and the current
hesitancy on the part of consumers in general, order backlog at the
beginning of the quarter was significantly lower. However, more expansive
order intake over the course of the first quarter translated into order
backlog of EUR 11.7 million at the end of March (prev. year: EUR 11.4
million).
The European subsidiaries developed in line with forecasts during the first
months of the year. Overall, the result from operations was in positive
territory. EBIT rose in Belgium, France and Italy.
United Labels AG will be holding its 9th Annual General Meeting of
Shareholders in Münster on May 15, 2009. As in the two previous years, the
Management Board will propose a dividend payment of EUR 0.20 per
share.
