Heek, April 12, 2010 - 2G Bio-Energietechnik AG, one of Germany's leading manufacturers of combined heat and power (CHP) systems, continues to chart its growth path. An independent unit for motor development and optimization has now been created with the foundation of the new company 2G Drives GmbH. As an independent subsidiary of 2G Bio-Energietechnik AG, newly founded 2G Drives GmbH focuses on optimizing, developing and producing combustion engines in the 50 to 450 kW performance range. These motors form the technological heart of 2G's combined heat and generation modules. 2G Drives is also engaged in developing and producing peripheral high-tech components required for motor construction and operation. The greater vertical range of 2G's manufacturing capabilities is also intended to further extend the company's unique selling points over the long term. Boosting efficiency and reducing maintenance and repair expenses will further secure the company's globally leading technology status in this product area. The projects, which are either already patented or which have yet to be patented, will enhance operating efficiency, and thereby customer benefits, to such an extent that market penetration of CHP products will continue to progress along highly dynamic lines. The 2G drives can be operated with both natural gas and special gases such as biogas. As a result of co-operation with globally recognized gas motor experts, as well as development co-operation ventures with experienced universities and research institutes (Graz University of Technology, FVT), empirical data and related new insights are being integrated into development work. These partnerships are also securing the reproducibility of development steps. 2G Bio-Energietechnik AG is the majority shareholder with an 80% stake in 2G Drives GmbH. The remaining 20% of the shares are held by recognized experts, whose know-how is secured by the stake they hold in the company. Dipl. Ing. Frank Grewe has been appointed managing director of 2G Drives GmbH. Mr. Grewe has many years of experience in the motor development area, and will be responsible for driving the company's ambitious projects forward. Company profile 2G Bio-Energietechnik AG is one of the leading German providers of plants for the decentralized supply of energy. With the development, production, installation, and servicing of combined heat and power (CHP) plants, the company offers comprehensive solutions in the growing market for highly efficient cogeneration systems, which will benefit greatly from political support for stronger climate protection over the next years.
