Corporate News
- 2G reports very strong year-end spurt with Q4/2011 the most successful
quarter in the company's history
- American business growing dynamically
- Optimistic start to new year for 2G
Heek, January 10, 2012 - 2G Energy AG (2G), one of the leading German
manufacturers of combined heat and power (CHP) plants, continued in the
fourth quarter of the year to report the dynamic business growth that it
was targeting. The fourth quarter is traditionally the sector's strongest
quarter in terms of sales. 2G achieved its best quarter, and consequently
also the strongest year-end spurt in the history of the company.
With production capacities fully utilized, 2G succeeded in serving strong
demand for 2G systems in 2011, in line with its plans. A total of around
700 units were produced and delivered, generating total revenue of at least
EUR 155 million, as announced.
Dynamic growth in North America
2G set about achieving its aim of rapidly and sustainably entering the US
market on a highly promising footing with the founding of 2G Cenergy Power
Systems Technologies Inc. (2G Cenergy) in 2009, a company that offers 2G
systems and services to the American market. 2G Cenergy generated orders
for 20 systems and a total volume of more than USD 21 million in 2011. Of
these orders, USD 15 million were received at the end of the year, and are
to be processed in 2012,in line with a rising trend. 2G's Management Board
also believes that leading German CHP plant technology will continue to
encounter strong demand in the USA over the coming years.2G topped up its
interest in 2G Cenergy by a further 24% at the end of the year in order to
participate in the high-growth CHP market, and gain a significant market
share at an early stage. 2G also plans to start its own production in the
United States in the first half of the year. Related preparations are
already well advanced. 2G Energy AG, which is to be a new wholly-owned
subsidiary, will produce all of the systems required for the North American
region locally. 2G Cenergy will continue to operate the related sales and
service functions.
Optimistic start to new year for 2G
Although the company anticipated that customers would be more reticent in
awarding orders compared with the previous year, 2G currently commands a
solid starting base for the current year, with currently 180 orders across
the Group, entailing a total volume of more than EUR 50 million.
Company profile
2G Energy AG (formerly 2G Bio-Energietechnik AG) is one of the leading
providers of plants for the decentralized supply of energy. With the
development, production and installation of combined heat and power (CHP)
plants, as well as related services, the company offers comprehensive
