WIGE moves into entertainment business
- Cooperation with producer duo Jörg A. Hoppe and Christoph Post ('Bauer
sucht Frau') under the 'WIGE Entertainment' label
- Development and production of show, reality and docutainment formats
- Sales contribution in the seven-figure euro range and increase in
Group-wide profitability expected
Cologne, 8 December 2011: As part of its current expansion, WIGE MEDIA AG
(WKN: A1EMG5) is actively moving into the entertainment production
business. Under the terms of a cooperation agreement with producer duo Jörg
A. Hoppe und Christoph Post, the company will invest in the development and
production of show, reality and docutainment formats and drive ahead its
activities in this area. Among other things, the producer duo is
responsible for the 'Bauer sucht Frau', 'Einsatz in 4 Wänden', 'Schmeckt
nicht, gibt's nicht' and 'The Dome' formats.
In addition to its existing segments, the investment in Mood and Motion AG
(soon to be renamed 'Neue Sentimental Film') and the acquisitions of
byLauterbach and McCoremac, the move into the entertainment business rounds
out WIGE MEDIA AG's broader positioning and vertical integration along the
value chain in the moving image industry. WIGE expects this to open up new
sales potential in the seven-figure euro range as well as increasing Group
profitability.
WIGE MEDIA AG has already successfully cooperated with Jörg A. Hoppe and
Christoph Post's production company on the RTL II production 'The Dome'.
The first 'WIGE Entertainment' projects will initially be worked on by
employees of WIGE MEDIA AG and the producer duo before a dedicated team is
established at their shared offices in Berlin.
