Für den Inhalt der Mitteilung ist allein der Emittent verantwortlich. —————————————————————————— Im Zwischenbericht zum 31.03.2000 berichtet die Phoenix AG, Hamburg, über ein erfolgreich verlaufenes 1. Quartal 2000. Umsatz und Ergebnis der ersten drei Monate des laufenden Geschäftsjahres lagen voll im Rahmen der Erwartungen. Die Umsätze erreichten 231,0 Millionen EUR (+5,2 %). Das Ergebnis vor Ertragssteuern und Zinsen betrug 9,0 Millionen EUR. Dies entspricht einer EBIT-Rendite von 3,9 % (Vorjahr 4,1 %). Wie bereits angekündigt, wurde das Ergebnis von ersten Aufwendungen für das Restrukturierungsprogramm beeinflußt. Das Wachstum wurde wiederum durch die als Kerngeschäftsfelder zusammengefaßten Bereiche Comfort Systems, Conveyor Systems und Fluid Handling getragen (201,5 Millionen EUR, +7,5 %). Im einzelnen: Comfort Systems: Umsatz 114,3 Millionen EUR (+6,3 %), EBIT 4,9 Millionen EUR (-5,8 %) Comfort Systems Automotive: Umsatz 96,6 Millionen EUR (+ 6,0 %) Comfort Systems Traffic Technology: Umsatz 17,7 Millionen EUR (+7,3 %). Fluid Handling: 58,1 Millionen EUR (+8,2 %), EBIT 3,7 Millionen EUR (+2,8 %) Fluid Handling Automotive: Umsatz 38,7 Millionen EUR (+11,5 %) Fluid Handling Industry: Umsatz 19,4 Millionen EUR (+2,1 %). Conveyor Systems:Umsatz 29,1 Millionen EUR (+11,7 %), EBIT 1,3 Millionen EUR (+18,2 %). Übrige Geschäftseinheiten: Umsatz 29,5 Millionen EUR (-8,4 %), EBIT 1,3 Millionen EUR (-7,1 %). Ausblick Für das Gesamtjahr erwartet Phoenix eine Fortschreibung der erfreulichen Umsatzentwicklung. Das Ergebnis wird von den Aufwendungen für das Restrukturierungsprogramm beeinflußt. Die Umsetzung dieses Programms wird mit großem Einsatz vorangetrieben und erfolgt schneller als geplant. Erste Maschinen wurden bereits verlagert. Ende des Jahres wird der größte Teil der Restrukturierung abgeschlossen sein. Nach wie vor geht Phoenix von einer Ergebnisbelastung in Höhe von 5 Millionen EUR für das Jahr 2000 aus. Hamburg-based Phoenix reported a successful first quarter on March 31, 2000. Revenues and earnings for the first three months of the year completely met expectations. Revenues were up 5.2 % to EUR231.0 million, and earnings before interest and taxation came to EUR9.0 million, which represents an EBIT margin of 3.9 % as compared with 4.1 % a year ago. As was already announced, earnings were impacted by initial outlays for implementation of the company’s ongoing restructuring plans. As in past quarters, growth was generated by the company’s core segments, Comfort Systems, Conveyor Systems and Fluid Handling. These segments combined to generate revenues in the amount of EUR201.5 million, up 7.5 % for first-quarter 1999. These figures can be broken down as follows: Comfort Systems: Revenues EUR114.3 million (+6.2 %), EBIT EUR4.9 million (-5.8 %) Comfort Systems Automotive: Revenues EUR96.6 million (+ 6.0 %) Comfort Systems Traffic Technology: Revenues EUR17.7 million (+7.3 %) Fluid Handling: EUR58.1 million (+8.2 %), EBIT EUR3.7 million (+2.8%) Fluid Handling Automotive: Revenues EUR38.7 million (+11.5 %) Fluid Handling Industry: Revenues EUR19.4 million (+2.1 %) Conveyor Systems: Revenues EUR29.1 million (+11.7 %), EBIT EUR1.3 million (+18.2 %) Other Activities: Revenues EUR29.5 million (-8.4 %), BIT EUR1.3 million (-7.1 %). Outlook Phoenix expects the encouraging performance witnessed in the first quarter to continue throughout the year. However, earnings will be impacted by outlays for implementation of the company’s restructuring plans. Phoenix is actively involved in implementing the requisite restructuring measures and is proceeding ahead of schedule. Initial shipments of machinery and equipment have already been completed, and restructuring plans will be virtually completely implemented by year-end 2000. As was originally projected, Phoenix continues to expect that restructuring expense for the year 2000 will come to EUR5 million.
