Dieser Transfer ist Teil eines Kooperationsvertrages aus dem vergangenen Jahr, durch den Aventis nicht-exklusive Lizenzen zur Nutzung der von Rhein Biotech patentierten Technologie zur Herstellung von Hepatitis-B-Oberflächenantigen inklusive einer Produktionsanlage in Buenos Aires akquiriert. Die genaue Transaktionssumme ist nicht bekannt. Wie geplant, wird die Gewinn- und Verlustrechnung der Rhein Biotech Gruppe im zweiten Halbjahr von der Transaktion profitieren. Hintergrund der “Hepatitis-B-Kooperation” Im August 1999 erwarb Pasteur Merieux Connaught (heute Aventis Pasteur) eine Lizenz zur Nutzung von Rhein Biotechs patentierter Hefe-Technologie zur Produktion von Hepatitis-B- Oberflächenantigen als Basis neuer Kombinationsimpfstoffen. Die nun vollzogene Übernahme der Rhein Biotech-Tochter Rhein Americana war ebenfalls Teil des im vergangenen Jahr abgeschlossenen Kooperationsvertrages. This transfer is part of a co-operation agreement concluded in 1999, under which Aventis Pasteur acquires non-exclusive rights on Rhein Biotech’s patented technology for the production of hepatitis B surface antigen including the production plant in Buenos Aires. The exact amount of the transaction is not disclosed. However, the P&L of the Rhein Biotech Group will be impacted in the second half-year as planned. Background of the “Hepatitis B Co-operation” In August 1999 Pasteur Merieux Connaught (now Aventis Pasteur) acquired a license for the use of Rhein Biotech’s patented yeast expression technology for the production of hepatitis B surface antigen as the basis for new combination vaccines. The transfer of Rhein Americana, which is now completed, was also part of the agreement. In addition to upfront payments, the companies agreed on long term royalty payments on sales of combination vaccines by Aventis Pasteur.
