Phoenix hat Zugang zu den nordamerikanischen Produktionsstätten der Goodyear Engineered Products und Goodyear kann im Gegenzug auf die europäischen Standorte der Phoenix Automotive GmbH zugreifen. Damit haben beide Partner die Anzahl zur Verfügung stehender Produktionsstätten verdoppelt. Eine darüber hinausgehende Ausdehnung der Kooperation nach Asien ist bereits angedacht. Sowohl Goodyear als auch Phoenix verfügen über gute Positionen in ihren jeweiligen Märkten. Die Ausweitung der Produktionskapazitäten ermöglicht es den Partnern aber fortan, als “Global Sourcing” Zulieferer für qualitativ hochwertige Autoteile in weltweit montierten Plattformen aufzutreten. Die Phoenix-Gruppe, Hamburg, hat 1999 einen Umsatz in Höhe von 860 Millionen Dollar (Wechselkurs per 31.12.1999) erzielt, Goodyear Engineered Products verzeichnete in 1999 Umsätze von 1,2 Milliarden Dollar. Die Phoenix Automotive GmbH, Hamburg, verfügt über sechs europäische Produktionsstätten für Automobilschläuche in Deutschland, Spanien, Italien, Ungarn und Rumänien. Goodyear Engineered Products, eine Division der Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio, USA, verfügt ebenfalls über sechs Produktionsstätten für Automobilschläuche, die sich in den USA, Kanada und Mexiko befinden. Goodyear and Phoenix Announce Automotive Hose Agreement HAMBURG, Germany, Oct.18, 2000 Two international automotive hose manufacturers today announced here an agreement doubling the number of production facilities each can use to meet the worldwide coolant system demands of their customers. The agreement between Phoenix Automotive GmbH, based at Hamburg, and Goodyear Engineered Products, based at Akron, Ohio, gives Phoenix access to six Goodyear hose plants located in the United States, Canada and Mexico, while Goodyear will have access to six Phoenix European hose plants located in Germany, Spain, Italy, Hungary and Romania. It will help the companies rapidly respond to car manufacturers expanding their production of global platforms. Company officials said that each company already has considerable market presence in their respective geographic region. Expanding their manufacturing presence overseas will help both become global suppliers of uniform, high-quality products for international vehicle makers. The companies intend to expand their common activities to the Asian and South-American markets in the future. Hermann Kampling, managing director for Phoenix Automotive, said the agreement meets the demands of a worldwide automotive business moving from regional to global automotive platforms and models. Alex Dumm, general manager for Goodyear’s hose business, said it offers significant advantages and cost efficiencies for both companies by optimizing manufacturing and technical support.
