Ad hoc statement by antwerpes ag:
Final figures for 3rd quarter: antwerpes ag doubles its sales
compared with previous year / Planned sales for 2000 revised
upwards to 17.8 million marks / Net earnings still positive
Cologne, 15th November 2000. The high growth rates of antwerpes
ag (www.antwerpes.de) are continuing unabated. In the 3rd
quarter, the Cologne Internet service provider achieved sales of
5.4 million DM. Compared with the previous year, sales in the
first three quarters of the year rose by 109 percent, and had
reached 13 million marks by the end of September (previous year
6.2 million marks). This encouraging sales trend comes solely
from organic growth.
In the first nine months, antwerpes continued to work profitably,
with an EBIT of 0.5 million marks and and an EBITDA of 1.7
million marks. Originally, antwerpes had expected slight losses
for this period, since a large amount of investment lay ahead,
particularly in the subsidiary DocCheck Medical Services GmbH.
Net earnings per share also went up, and are now 0.12 DM (1st six
months 2000: 0.07 DM). At the end of the 3rd quarter the level of
financial resources was 52 million DM.
antwerpes also expects exceedingly encouraging business in the
4th quarter. This is why antwerpes ag is raising its planned
sales for 2000 slightly, from 16.7 to 17.8 million marks. This
new sales target does not include the acquisition of the e
commerce service provider in the healthcare sector, Geisselmann
GmbH. All other planned figures for 2000 have remained unchanged
for the time being.
The growth in sales covers all service sectors of the company:
for example, the New Media sector increased its sales by 146
percent, from 2.4 million marks to 6 million marks, and the
Classic Media sector increased its performance by 45 percent,
from 3.6 million marks to 5.2 million marks compared with the 3rd
quarter 1999.
The development of the subsidiary DocCheck Medical Services GmbH,
the largest European healthcare portal, remains favourable.
Sales rose from 0.9 million marks in the 1st six months to 1.735
million marks by the end of the 3rd quarter. This meant an
increase in sales of 924 percent compared with the first nine
month of the previous year. In this period, the number of users
registered with DocCheck grew by over 200 percent from 17,000 to
almost 60,000. With the acquisition of Geisselmann GmbH in the
past quarter, antwerpes ag succeeded in expanding the healthcare
portal in the e-commerce sector. With Geisselmann, antwerpes now
has the leading e-commerce solution for surgery requirements in
Germany at its disposal.
