AURELIUS AG / Key word(s): Acquisition
AURELIUS subsidiary Studienkreis Group to acquire tutoria – Add-on acquisition completes next step in growth plan – Strategic expansion in e-learning segment Munich, August 20, 2015 – AURELIUS’s Studienkreis subsidiary, one of the biggest providers of private tuition in Germany, is acquiring tutoria, a digital platform for personal tuition ( www.tutoria.de ), with effect from September 15, 2015. Set up by the Holtzbrinck Group in 2007, tutoria has been continuously refined ever since. In the meantime, tutoria has provided a million hours of lessons, supported over 50,000 parents and students with private tutors, and enabled more than 30,000 tutors to teach. In acquiring tutoria, the Bochum-based Studienkreis Group is expanding its business model and continuing its successful policy of expansion. “Over many years, the Studienkreis Group has successfully established itself as a central point of reference and leading provider of private tuition on the market. This makes it the ideal partner to keep tutoria’s activities available in a highly competitive market and enhance the model,” comments Christian Nowak, managing director of tutoria. Studienkreis managing director Lorenz Haase says of the acquisition: “We intend to integrate the ‘tutoria’ brand into the Studienkreis Group and adjust the business model accordingly as we do so. This means that existing tutoria users will still be able to find their way to each other on our online platform in the future. With our thousand or so Studienkreis schools, we’re also providing a much wider range of private-tuition offerings for both parents and tutors at the same time.” “With this add-on acquisition, Studienkreis is primarily strengthening its business in the highly promising e-learning segment,” states AURELIUS Executive Board member Donatus Albrecht. “Many of our corporate subsidiaries have already benefited from add-on acquisitions helping them to enter lucrative new business fields and markets.”
