DGAP-News: AURELIUS SE & Co. KGaA / Key word(s): Disposal
AURELIUS subsidiary AKAD sells Wissenschaftliche Hochschule Lahr – Partial exit as part of the strategic realignment of AKAD Munich, December 2015 – AKAD Bildungsgesellschaft, an AURELIUS Group (ISIN DE000A0JK2A8) subsidiary, has sold Wissenschaftliche Hochschule Lahr (WHL). The buyer, European Education Group Germany (EEG), intends to continue operating the private university for the foreseeable future and maintain WHL’s present profile with its strong focus on the sciences. The disposal was carried out as part of the strategic realignment and focusing on more practical courses at the AKAD University. “The change of provider is the best possible solution for all concerned. With EEG, an education provider is acquiring WHL that has already been operating in the scientific field for a number of years, understands the issues for working students very well, and aims to strategically exploit and enhance the university’s concept,” explains Professor Ronny Fürst, CEO of AKAD. “We’re delighted that it will continue to be possible for WHL students to gain recognized qualifications from an existing college.” “This partial exit clearly demonstrates the AURELIUS mode of operation when it comes to realigning and repositioning its subsidiaries. We, too, are always on the lookout for viable solutions for our subsidiaries’ non-core activities in the best interests of all concerned,” says AURELIUS Executive Board member Gert Purkert. The acquisition of WHL by EEG does not entail any changes in the education process for the students. They can go on studying as usual, with all seminars and examinations continuing to take place. The seminars will be held in Stuttgart during the 2015 session, as planned. The change of provider will have no impact on accreditation of the qualifications either, as WHL is officially recognized by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts. The Ministry has already consented to the change of provider.
