Westag & Getalit AG: Sales and earnings decline moderately in Q1 2013 for
weather reasons
Due to the long winter and the resulting weak construction activity, Westag
& Getalit AG reported a 4.1% decline in sales revenues to EUR 55.1 million
in the first quarter of 2013 (Q1 2012: EUR 57.4 million).
The reporting period was also impacted by the difficult situation in the
relevant export markets, which sent export sales falling by 9.1% to EUR
11.3 million (2012: EUR 12.4 million). As a result, the export share
declined to 20.4% in the first quarter (2012: 21.6%).
Earnings before taxes declined in sync with sales revenues and were down by
10.0% on the previous year's EUR 2.3 million to EUR 2.1 million. Net profit
for the period per share amounted to EUR 0.24 per ordinary share and to EUR
0.30 per preference share.
In spite of the weather-related moderate start to the year and the tight
situation in our relevant export markets, we are optimistic about Westag &
Getalit AG's outlook for the rest of 2013.
In the coming quarters, we will aim to make up for the drop in
first-quarter sales and earnings. This aim is based on the assumption of
continued strong construction activity, from which we have already
benefited in the past thanks to our diverse product range.
