Dezember 1999 – Mit der Akquisition der Central Filmvertriebs GmbH, Berlin, setzt die Senator Film AG ihre Strategie, die Wertschöpfungskette weiter zu vertiefen und auszubauen, fort. Rückwirkend zum 01.10.1999 werden die bisherigen Vertriebs- aktivitäten mit Central bei Senator gebündelt und die partnerschaft- liche Zusammenarbeit verstärkt. Die im Vertrieb von Kinospielfilmen tätige Central Filmvertriebs- gesellschaft wird als 100%ige Tochter in die Senator Film AG eingegliedert und als eigenes Profitcenter weiterarbeiten. Central Film bleibt wie bisher eine eigene Marke und steht weiterhin Produzenten, Verleihern und Vertriebsfirmen für die Kinoauswertung in Deutschland offen. Central verlieh 1999 Erfolgsfilme wie “Buena Vista Social Club” oder “Aimee und Jaguar” von Senator. Auch der diesjährige Kinohit “Sonnenallee” wurde von Central Film in die Kinos gebracht. “Durch die Übernahme von Central Film erwartet Senator im nächsten Jahr einen positiven Ergebnisbeitrag in Millionenhöhe, da die Vertriebserlöse nun vollständig im Hause verbleiben und wir zusätzlich an den Vertriebsmargen anderer Produktionsunternehmen partizipieren können”, so Marketing- und Vertriebsvorstand Christoph Ott. “In den kommenden Jahren wollen wir Central Film zu einem Major Player in Deutschland ausbauen”, so Peter Sundarp, alleiniger Geschäftsführer der Central Filmvertriebs GmbH. Retroactively, as per 1 October 1999, Central’s previous sales activities are merged with those of Senator to strengthen cooperation between the partners. Central Filmvertriebsgesellschaft has been engaged in motion picture distribution and will now be integrated into Senator Film AG as a wholly-owned subsidiary to carry on work as a separate profit centre. Central Film will remain a brand in its own right and will continue to be available to producers and distributors for cinema presentation of films in Germany. In 1999, Central has been distributing success films such as “Buena Vista Social Club” or Senator’s “Aimee and Jaguar”. Likewise was “Sonnenallee”, this year’s box-office hit, marketed by Central as a theatrical film. “By taking over Central Film, Senator Film expect a positive contribution to earnings, to the tune of some millions, since the sales proceeds will now remain in our company in full.
