August 2000 – Die Umsätze der Senator Entertainment AG sind im 1. Halbjahr 2000 gegenüber dem Vorjahreszeitraum um rund 74% von 43,9 Mio. DM auf 76,2 Mio. DM gestiegen. Das Halbjahresergebnis konnte überproportional um 410% von 1,9 Mio. DM im ersten Halbjahr 1999 auf 9,6 Mio. DM gesteigert werden. Das Ergebnis vor Steuern, Zinsen und Abschreibungen (EBITDA) in Höhe von 45,3 Mio. DM lag rund 70% über den Vergleichszahlen des Vorjahres. Das Ergebnis vor Steuern und Zinsen (EBIT) stieg um rund 158% auf 8,6 Mio. DM (Vorjahr: 3,3 Mio. DM). Ebenso erfreulich entwickelte sich das Ergebnis der gewöhnlichen Geschäftstätigkeit, das Senator um rund 120% von 3,7 Mio. DM auf 8,2 Mio. DM steigern konnte. Für das zweite Halbjahr erwartet die Gesellschaft im Geschäftsfeld Distribution wiederum bedeutende Umsatz- und Ertragszuwächse, da ein Großteil der Filmstarts in diesem Zeitraum erfolgen wird. Neben höheren Kinoerlösen werden insbesondere die Lizenzerlöse stark ansteigen, wozu unter anderem die schon jetzt deutlich über Plan liegenden Weltvertriebserlöse beitragen werden. Diese Entwicklung bestärkt Senator in der bisherigen Strategie mit kompetenten Partnern aus der internationalen Filmbranche, wie z.B. der britischen Channel4 Tochter FilmFour, zu kooperieren. Diesbezüglich konnten auch die ersten Schritte in Richtung US- und Weltmarkt erfolgreich umgesetzt werden. So ist es Senator bis zum heutigen Tage gelungen, mit Joe Roth und Mark Canton zwei der bedeutendsten Hollywood-Produzenten langfristig an sich zu binden. The half-year result could be increased superproportionally by 410% from DM 1.9 million in the first half of 1999 to DM 9.6 million. The earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of DM 45.3 million were roughly 70% above the comparable figures of last year. The earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) rose by roughly 158% to DM 8.6 million (last year: DM 3.3 million). In addition, the results from ordinary activities which Senator could increase by roughly 120% from DM 3.7 million to DM 8.2 million showed an equally satisfactory development. For the second half, the company again expects sales and earnings increases in the Distribution business field since a large number of films will have their first run in this period. Besides the higher cinema proceeds, above all the licence proceeds will strongly increase with world distribution proceeds making a clearly higher contribution than previously planned already now. This development affirms Senator in its presently maintained strategy to cooperate with competent partners from the international movie industry, as e.g. the British Channel4 subsidiary FilmFour. As to this aim, it was also possible to make the first successful steps towards the US and world market. Senator has, for instance, succeeded in establishing close ties with two of the most prominent Hollywood producers, Joe Roth und Mark Canton, on a long-term basis.
