Senator Boosts EBIT by Some 178 Percent
EBITDA increased by about 93% / Sales climb some 72%
Berlin, 31 March 2001 Senator Entertainment AG increased sales by about 72% to
DM 211.06 million (prior year: DM 122.72 million) during the 2000 financial
year. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA)
climbed by about 93% from DM 72.97 million in 1999 to DM 141.04 million in 2000.
Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) rose some 178% to DM 34.71 million
over the DM 12.50 million of 1999.
Senator Entertainment AG holds a better than 25% share in CinemaxX AG, which
reported a net loss for its abridged 2000 financial year (1 July to 31 December
2000). The total cost for Senator from its assumed share of the loss and
amortization amounts to DM 26.17 million and was recorded in its financial
result. Annual net earnings of DM 2.30 million (prior year: DM 10.75 million)
were reported following this financial result and after taxes and minority
interest.
CinemaxX AG is implementing a comprehensive program to optimize costs and
increase earnings designed to return the company to the profit zone.
Senator expects strong increases in sales and earnings for financial year 2001,
since its 1999 and 2000 domestic and international co-operations, acquisitions
and equity interests will bring forth a large number of superior quality films.
