Senator sales grow 30% in 2001 – positive outlook Ad-hoc-announcement transmitted by DGAP. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Senator increases sales in the past fiscal year by 30% reaches positive EBIT and expects further growth in 2002/2003. Senator Entertainment AG increased its revenues in fiscal year 2001 by 29.9% to EUR 140.1 million (prior year: EUR 107.9 million). The EBITDA increased by EUR 21.7 million to EUR 94.1 million (prior year: EUR 72.4 million). Amortization rose progressively by 62.6% to EUR 88.4 million. The high amortization rate of 63.1% (prior year: 50.4%) reflects the group’s conservative amortization policy. After accounting for amortization, positive earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of EUR 5.7 million were posted in contrast to EUR 18.1 million in the prior year. The negative financial result of EUR 10.8 million is primarily due to Senator’s share of loss absorption and ordinary goodwill amortization for CinemaxX totaling EUR 10.4 million. The net loss of EUR – 4.2 million (prior year net profit: EUR 1.2 million) led to earnings per share of EUR – 0.12 (prior year: 0.03). In a difficult environment, Senator has succeeded in surpassing the corrected forecast from November 2001. Total assets increased by 24,3% to EUR 357.3 million. Equity totaled EUR 202.1 million. The capital ratio lay at 56.6%. Operating cash flow during the reporting year was increased by more than 175% to EUR 90.2 million. Much of this could be used for investment in new film exploitation rights. In the current fiscal year expectations are for sales at least as high, double digit EBIT and a positive result.
