Remarks:

1)  Subdivision of shares

Every share of HK$0.10 each in the issued share capital of the Company has 
been subdivided into and redesignated as four shares of HK$0.025 each with 
effect from 8 March 2000 (the "Share Subdivision").

2)  Basic and fully diluted earnings per share 

The calculation of basic and fully diluted earnings per share are based on 
the Group's profit attributable to shareholders of HK$480,889,000 (1999: 
HK$275,267,000).

The basic earnings per share is based on the weighted average of 
7,101,212,291 (1999: 6,929,966,264) shares in issue during the year.  The 
fully diluted earnings per share is based on 7,208,590,639 (1999: 
7,082,813,116) shares which is the weighted average number of shares in 
issue during the year plus the weighted average of 107,378,348 (1999: 
152,846,852) shares deemed to be issued at no consideration if all 
outstanding options had been exercised.

The basic and fully diluted earnings per share of prior year have been 
restated as if the Share Subdivision has taken place as at 1 April 1998.

3)  Dividend

The final dividend per share of prior year has been restated as if the 
Share Subdivision has taken place as at 31 March 1999.
