Dr.Waheb A. Linjawi, Group President & Managing Director of Saudi Cable Company (SCC) announced that purchase orders received for the Companys power and telecommunications cables continue to be on the increase from both outside and inside the Kingdom. Having become conscious of this, the Management had embarked upon an ambitious plan to expand the Companys production capacity by modernization of its existing machinery and purchase of new machines to increase the production capacity of its Jeddah plant to three times its capacity in the previous years, after obtaining necessary license from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. The Company has now reached an agreement to purchase an establishment neighboring its Industrial Complex, with an area equal to 50% of its current facilities. This is in addition to another establishment that the Company purchased last year for the purpose of implementing the planned expansion that will end in the first quarter of the coming year. It may be pointed out that the Companys new production lines have since started production of specialty cables to meet the requirements of the petrochemical and desalination companies.
It is worth mentioning here that the planned expansion covered the Companys facilities in Turkey where the production capacity has become three times what it was earlier. It also covered Midal Cables in Bahrain that has this year decided to expand its production capacity to reach 150 thousand tons by the beginning of 2008 whereby Midal would become the worlds biggest producer of aluminium rod and wires under one roof.
With this Saudi Cable Companys production capacity will jump to 262 thousand tons, placing the SCC Group as one of the worlds top ten cable companies.
The Management expects that as a result of the implementation of this expansion, the Companys profits will be doubled in the years to come.
