Zamil Steels Towers & Galvanizing (T&G) Division, a unit of Zamil Industrial Investment Company (Zamil Industrial), has been awarded a contract worth SAR 103 million, for the fabrication and supply of lattice steel towers for the (Munifa-Qaisumah) power transmission project. The contract was signed on Saturday afternoon (23/10/2010) by Adnan Al Mansour, President, Zamil Steel, and Abdullah Al Brahim, General Manager, National Contracting Company Ltd. the main contractor for the project. .
The scope of the contract calls for the fabrication and supply of 825 towers (380kV double-circuit overhead line) to the power transmission line project connecting Munifa and Qaisumah. This project is executed by the National Contracting Company for the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) Eastern Province Operations.
Zamil Steel will commence the supply of the towers early 2011 through the end of the first quarter of 2012. This contract is expected to have a positive impact on the consolidated financials upon completion of each stage.
This project is the result of ongoing collaboration between Zamil Steel and local contractors to execute SEC infrastructure projects to enhance the existing network grid to meet the growing demand for energy, stated Mohammed Al Shallali, General Manager of Zamil Steel T&G Division.
Zamil Steel T&G Division successfully supplied towers for numerous power transmission projects within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, GCC countries and across other continents around the world, meeting stringent design specifications and technical requirements of each country.
Zamil Industrial began trial production operations in July 2010 at its new galvanizing plant in Dammam Second Industrial City. This new plant is expected to maintain a production capacity of 50,000 tons per year, increasing Zamil Steels annual galvanizing capacity to 75,000 tons. The plant has been designed and constructed to meet compliance levels set by international environmental organizations. All issues regarding gases, vapors and other types of polluting agents resulting from the process of galvanization have been addressed and resolved.
