STARNBERG, Germany: Quoted on the Frankfurt “Neuer Market”
stock exchange since March of this year, DCI Database for
Commerce and Industry AG presented its six months’ statement
today. DCI is a recognised pioneer in the fast-growing b2b
sector, already operating Germany’s largest online
marketplace for IT and telecom products. Revenue for the
first six months amounted to 4.062 million euro. Membership
figures jumped by 219 percent to 15,010 for the same period.
According to the US Generally Accepted Accounting
Principles, operating income amounted to minus 7.396 million
euro. Net income after tax was posted at 3.9 million euro.
“We are extremely satisfied with performance for the first
six months of 2000,” comments CFO Klaus Zuber. “We have
invested heavily in many of our strategic initiatives. Once
they are up and running, we expect revenue to rise sharply
in the second half of 2000.”
CEO of DCI, Michael Mohr, sees the acquisition of DCI’s
British competitor, ace-quote.com Ltd, as a strategic move
for DCI. “By integrating the UK’s leading Internet portal,
we have carved out excellent opportunities for expansion –
especially as English remains the predominant language of
the Internet. The acquisition has given significant impetus
to our internationalisation drive.” With the acquisition of
ace-quote, DCI has also gained 43 highly qualified
employees. This places the total number of employees at 197.
DCI’s innovative trade portal, the DCI WebTradeCenter
(www.webtradecenter.de), already handles trade to the tune
of some 35 million euro each month. Additional, ground-
breaking features and services will serve to consolidate the
popularity of the DCI WebTradeCenter in the near future.
