The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Funkwerk receives another supply contract for mobile radio terminals for Deutsche Bahn AG Funkwerk AG has received yet another contract for around 2,000 GSM-R mobile radio terminals for Deutsche Bahn AG from Nortel Networks Germany GmbH & Co. KG, the order volume – including accessories and ancillary performances – reaching a two-figure sum in the millions. The delivery of these devices directly follows the first call of Nortel Networks Germany GmbH & Co. KG. With this second contract from Nortel Networks Germany, Funkwerk currently records a total volume of around 7,500 mobile radio terminals. GSM-R (Global System for Mobile Communications for Rail) is the new standard for the transmission of information in the European rail traffic. As a partner of Nortel Network, Funkwerk is presently executing the call order relating to the delivery of around 5,000 devices, a contract which the company received at the beginning of March 2001. This new call order allows Funkwerk to consolidate its leading position as a supplier of mobile radio systems for railway companies in Europe. The French state railway, SNCF, has also already opted for GSM-R terminals from Funkwerk and further orders from other European countries are expected to come in the next few months. On the whole, 32 European railway companies have committed themselves to introducing the GSM-R standard by 2008 in order to ensure a rationalisation and harmonisation of rail traffic in Europe. Here, Deutsche Bahn AG is making the running for others.
