Funkwerk to supply Belgian railway with mobile radio terminals Ad-hoc-announcement transmitted by DGAP. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– New large-scale contract: Funkwerk to supply Belgian railway with mobile radio terminals Over the next four years, Funkwerk will be equipping in excess of 1,100 traction units and engines of the Belgian state railway with its mobile radio terminals. The Belgian railway company, SNCB-NMBS, has now come to a decision in regard to its contract on the installation of a GSM-R mobile radio network. Based on a blanket agreement with an international partner, Funkwerk will be supplying the pertinent GSM-R and dual-mode terminals for the mobile components of this network. GSM-R (Global System for Mobile Communications for Railways) is the latest standard for the transmission of information in European railway traffic. 32 European railway companies have already committed themselves to an extensive introduction of this technology by 2008, with Deutsche Bahn AG making the running. To date, Funkwerk has already delivered more than 2,000 GSM-R terminals to Deutsche Bahn AG. Thanks to yet another contract which the company won but a few days ago, the total supply volume will increase to around 7,500 mobile radio terminals by the end of 2004. This large-scale contract signed in Belgium once again underlines the leading competence of Funkwerk as a supplier of mobile radio systems for railway companies in Europe. The French railway, SNCF, has also already opted for the GSM-R terminals from Funkwerk. Further tenders in other European countries are about to be decided in the coming months. end of ad-hoc-announcement (c)DGAP 03.06.2003 ——————————————————————————– WKN: 575314; ISIN: DE0005753149; Index: NEMAX 50 Listed: Geregelter Markt in Frankfurt (Prime Standard); Freiverkehr in Berlin- Bremen, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Hannover, München und Stuttgart 030729 Jun 03
