– Increased participation in coal growth markets – Realignment of company investments Berlin, June 14 2011: HMS Bergbau AG, an international coal supplier with operating know-how of coal mining, transport and trade, will sharpen its focus on the growth market Asia in the future.
'We aim to increase our activities in the Asian coal market and increase our participation in rising coal exports in this region. We are ideally positioned as we have subsidiaries and representative offices in locations such as Singapore, Indonesia, Pakistan and India.
HMS Group also plans to pool its know-how for the European coal sector and switch its focus to secure, high-margin business. Whilst HMS Bergbau AG will continue importing Polish coal to Germany, it will stop exporting Russian coal to Poland. The company consequently disposed its investment in HMS Bergbau Polska Sp. z o.o., Katowice, Poland. Furthermore as a result of the company concentrating on its core business, it also sold its investment in KGHM HMS Bergbau AG, Berlin, Germany. HMS Group agreed to not disclose any further details about these agreements.
